Publisher PolicyFull Transparency

Southern Cross Academic Press is committed to maintaining transparency, academic integrity, ethical publishing practices, and editorial independence across its publishing and promotional activities. This policy establishes the principles governing advertisements displayed on the publisher’s websites, within its publications, and through other authorized promotional channels.

Southern Cross Academic Press promotes its journals, scholarly publications, call for papers, special issues, academic events, publishing services, and other relevant research activities. Commercial advertising and promotional partnerships comply with this policy and all applicable laws and regulations.

1. Editorial Independence

Advertising and promotional activities shall remain separate from the editorial and peer-review functions of all publications managed by Southern Cross Academic Press. Advertising revenue, sponsorship arrangements, and commercial partnerships shall not influence editorial decisions, manuscript acceptance or rejection, reviewer selection, publication schedules, or scholarly content.

All manuscripts shall be assessed according to their academic merit, originality, relevance, methodological quality, and compliance with the applicable editorial and ethical standards of the respective publication. Advertisers shall have no authority to interfere with editorial judgment or influence the decisions of editors and reviewers.

2. Separation of Advertising and Editorial Content

Southern Cross Academic Press does not present commercial promotional material in a manner that could mislead readers into interpreting it as independent academic content, an editorial recommendation, or an endorsement by the publisher, editors, or editorial boards.

Sponsored material, where accepted, is transparently identified. It is not presented as independently peer-reviewed research unless it has undergone the applicable peer review process.

3. Advertising and Peer-Review Integrity

The purchase, placement, or sponsorship of advertisements does not provide preferential treatment to authors, institutions, organizations, manuscripts, or publications. Advertisers do not receive privileged access to submitted manuscripts, confidential reviewer reports, editorial correspondence, or unpublished research information.

Purchasing advertising space or entering into a commercial partnership with Southern Cross Academic Press does not guarantee manuscript acceptance, expedited editorial decisions, favourable peer-review outcomes, or publication in a particular issue or publication. Similarly, declining to advertise with or sponsor the publisher shall have no bearing on the editorial consideration of any manuscript. Editorial decisions remain independent of commercial and promotional interests.

4. Acceptable Advertising and Promotional Activities

Southern Cross Academic Press may consider advertisements and promotional announcements relevant to the academic, scientific, educational, and research communities. These may include academic conferences, research events, educational opportunities, research tools, scientific services, and legitimate publishing-related activities.

The publisher reserves the right to decline advertisements that are misleading, deceptive, scientifically unsupported, unlawful, discriminatory, inappropriate for scholarly publishing, or inconsistent with its academic and ethical standards. Advertisements relating to products, services, or organizations that raise substantial ethical, legal, or reputational concerns may be rejected at the publisher’s discretion.

5. Accuracy, Legality, and Ethical Standards

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that all submitted advertising materials are accurate, substantiated, lawful, and compliant with applicable advertising standards and industry regulations in the jurisdictions where they appear.

Scientific, technical, medical, and other factual claims must be presented responsibly and must not exaggerate evidence, misrepresent research findings, or create unjustified expectations. Advertisements must not contain fabricated claims, deceptive comparisons, plagiarism, unauthorized copyrighted material, or misleading representations of products, qualifications, affiliations, or services.

Advertising content must respect human dignity and must not promote discrimination, harassment, or offensive treatment based on legally protected characteristics. Advertisers must obtain the necessary permissions and authorizations for all submitted materials.

6. Online Advertising and User Privacy

Southern Cross Academic Press shall manage online advertising and promotional activities in accordance with applicable privacy and data-protection requirements. Advertising arrangements must not compromise the confidentiality of authors, reviewers, editors, or website users.

Advertising practices must not unlawfully collect, disclose, or misuse personally identifiable information. Any use of cookies, tracking technologies, or similar tools associated with advertising must comply with applicable legal requirements and the publisher’s relevant privacy practices. Advertisers shall not be granted access to confidential editorial systems, manuscript-submission records, peer-review communications, or personal information collected for editorial purposes.

7. Removal of Advertisements

The publisher reserves the right to reject, suspend, modify, or remove any advertisement that violates this policy, applicable laws, agreed advertising terms, or established ethical standards. An advertisement may also be withdrawn if new information raises concerns regarding its accuracy, legality, appropriateness, or potential to mislead readers.

8. Advertising Complaints

Concerns regarding advertisements may be submitted to the publisher for assessment. Southern Cross Academic Press will review such concerns as appropriate and may request additional information or take corrective action where warranted.

9. Policy Administration and Revisions

Southern Cross Academic Press reserves the right to interpret, administer, and revise this Advertising Policy when necessary to maintain ethical publishing standards, comply with applicable requirements, and protect editorial independence across its publishing activities.

All advertising agreements, sponsorship arrangements, and commercial partnerships shall remain subordinate to the publisher’s editorial responsibilities and the principles established in this policy.
